Teacher Appreciation week for 2013 goes from May 6 through May 10. This week is a great time to thank teachers for their hard work with all of the children that they nurture and care for every day. It is not an easy task looking after 20-30 kids every day. We all know that teachers work incredibly hard and get paid very little for what they do. They are raising up the future generation and helping to mold them into the person that they are going to turn into tomorrow.
So what should you do to show appreciation? Volunteer! Teachers usually cannot get enough volunteers for the massive workload that they have undertaken. Talk to your child’s teacher and see if there is anything that you can help out with. Not only will it be helping the teacher out but it will give you as the parent time to watch how your child interacts with their peers. Plus volunteer work makes you feel good inside knowing that you have helped someone out. Sometimes when giving, you receive more than you realize.
Here is a great tutorial for another great gift idea:
If you are wanting your child to show their appreciation for their teacher then a great way for them to get involved is to create a large card and have them take it to each of the students in the class and have them sign it thanking the teacher for their hard work. Another idea is to have your child simply survey their classmates and have each student fill in the blank. “I love my teacher because ______”. Have your child compile all of the responses along with the child’s name next to their statement.
The ideas mentioned above are great ways to show teachers how much you and your student appreciate their teachers for all that they do. After all teachers spend much more time with our children than most parents spend with their children so we should show our appreciation. Your child could even color one of the images from our valentines day coloring book page and give it to their teacher to show their appreciation.
